Notes: Abstract Under intuitively reasonable assumptions it is shown that in two dimensions different phases cannot exist locally. In three dimensions we discuss the possibility of local coexistence of districts with different magnetization for the Heisenberg ferromagnet and show that an interaction that breaks rotational invariance is necessary for this phenomenon.

Topics: Physics
Notes: Abstract We discuss computer solutions of Newton's equations of motion for unstable systems in a container with time-dependent walls. An expansion leads to the formation of a cluster and a significant increase of the temperature. The question of entropy increase for expansion and compression of the system and the related problem of the feasibility of a perpetum mobile of the second kind are investigated.

Notes: Abstract We prove that for a von Neumann algebra that is an algebraicK system with respect to some automorphism, the invariant state isK-clustering andr-clustering. Further, we study by using examples how far the von Neumann algebra inherits theK property from the underlyingC * algebra.

Notes: Abstract For M a factor of type III1 we can find for every automorphism group γs that commutes with a modular automorphism group αt and another modular automorphism group $$\bar \alpha _t$$ , an automorphism group $$\bar \gamma _s$$ that commutes with $$\bar \alpha _t$$ is connected with γs by an inner cocycle.

Notes: Automorphisms on the irrational rotation algebra with respect to their ergodic properties are studied. Especially it is shown that for a dense set of the rotation parameter θ cat maps are entropic K-systems.

Notes: Abstract The energy as function of entropy and the free energy as function of temperature is calculated rigorously for nonrelativistic fermions with interactions. It is shown that in the appropriate thermodynamic limit the corresponding Thomas-Fermi equation becomes exact.
