    Abstract: The incidence of endometrial adenocarcinoma, the most common malignant tumor of the female genital tract in developed countries, has increased over recent years. A variety of collection techniques are available to obtain cytologic or histopathologic samples for its diagnosis but their interpretation can be difficult without proper collection and preparation. However, this monograph, written by internationally recognized experts, is a most valuable educational resource for the pathologist and cytopathologist in the techniques of endometrial sampling and diagnosis. The chapters are comprehensive and logically organized, covering the epidemiology and pathogenesis of endometrial adenocarcinoma, endometrial sampling techniques and the spectrum of cytomorphologic appearance from benign through hyperplasia to adenocarcinoma of the endometrium. A separate chapter covers non-epithelial uterine malignancies. Throughout the monograph, inclusion of both cytologic and H&E histologic images allows cytohistologic correlation of lesions. In summary, this endometrial handbook seeks to clarify a difficult area of cytodiagnosis and will become an important reference text for cytopathologists, pathologists and cytotechnologists

    Notes: The main objective of this work is to develop conductive yarns to be used as electricalwiring in e-textiles with the typical mechanical properties of a textile yarn. Present workdeals with the study of conductive polymer composites filaments of PP (polypropylene)with CB (carbon black), carbon black of high conductivity (CBHC) and CF (carbonfibers) .The novelty of this work resides in creating oriented filaments using traditionalfiber processing techniques together with a specially designed drafting machine. In theauthors’ opinion, the composite conductivity could be improved with the orientation ofthe (nano)carbon-based fillers by melt drawing after extrusion in order to facilitate theflow channels creation

    Notes: A graphite sheet has been successfully brazed to a Nimonic 105 superalloy using a commercial TiCuSil paste. A chromium layer was deposited on the graphite surface by sputtering and controlled heat treatments were employed in order to develop a suitable microstructure. Scanning electron microscopy measurements showed rough, crack-free interfaces between the filler metal and both the graphite and nimonic parts. From metallographic examination a well defined layered structure of the metallic elements close to the filler/graphite interface has been found. The metallic elements transport from the interface to the carbon bulk where they fill all the graphite pores up to a depth up of 50 μm and form a layered structure within the pores

    Notes: This paper focuses on the preparation of siloxane-polyurethane hybrid materials using a sol-gel method. The global aim of the project is to tailor mechanical properties, degradability rate, bioactivity and biocompatibility to design scaffolds for musculoskeletal applications. A series of seven hybrid materials were synthesized with varying the proportion of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), and Polyurethane (PU). The organic part ratios (by weight) employed were (% PDMS:% PU) 30:0, 35:5, 20:10, 15:15, 10:20, 5:25, and 0:30. The organic part was reacted with constant 70 % TEOS to obtain the hybrid materials. A sol-gel process was selected for the synthesis of the hybrids. The characterization of materials was carried out by the fourier-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), x-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) techniques in order to analyze the structure, microstructure and chemical composition of the hybrid materials. Gelification time depends on the proportion of PU used. When no PU is employed, the gel time is 8 hours but it rises up to 18 days for 30 % of polyurethane. Materials range from opaque to translucent but with a greater fragility for greater amounts of polyurethane. No differences in the bonding of materials could be appreciated

    Description: The paper reports an experimental study based on a variant of the popular Chinos game, which is used as a simple but paradigmatic instance of observational learning. There are three players, arranged in sequence, each of whom wins a fixed price if she manages to guess the total number of coins lying in everybody's hands. Our evidence shows that, despite the remarkable frequency of equilibrium outcomes, deviations from optimal play are also significant. And when such deviations occur, we find that, for any given player position, the probability of a mistake is increasing in the probability of a mistake of her predecessors. This is what we call an error cascade, which we which we measure by way of two alternative models.

However, due to the dynamic character of this sector and in order to maintain its power of attraction, the implementation of constant strategies of improvement and renewal is required, in order to face an increasingly stronger competition.     Description: One of the most distinctive characteristics in industrial districts is the coexistence of cooperative and competitive relationships between their firms. This combination of relationships is identified as a competitive advantage that is very difficult to reproduce in other contexts. It is considered as critical for the development and spillover of new knowledge, with implications for innovation. Our main goal is to develop a conceptual model that allows us to explain, in an integrated way, the impact of the cooperative and competitive relationships on the generation of competitive advantages. In this way, we pick up the most excellent contributions that have been carried out to study industrial districts from diverse theoretical approaches. We outline several theoretical propositions which define the explicative model. Finally, we complete this work with the discussion of the model and some conclusions.
