    Description / Table of Contents: Investigations on the radical-initiated polymerisation of p-bromostyrene in bulk by azobisisobutyronitrile as well as in emulsion by potassium persulfate are described. A relationship between the intrinsic viscosity and the degree of polymerisation for fractionated poly-p-bromostyrenes is given. From kinetic measurements follows the determination of the chain transfer constant of the monomer p-bromostyrene. - The composition of Copolymers of styrene and p-bromostyrene is analysed by UV-spectra. Besides it is reported on some experiments respecting ionic polymerisation of p-bromostyrene.
    Notes: Es wird die radikalische Polymerisation von p-Bromstyrol in Substanz mit Azobisisobutyronitril sowie in Emulsion mit Kaliumpersulfat untersucht. Die Beziehung zwischen Viskositätszahl und Polymerisationsgrad wird für fraktionierte Poly-p-bromstyrole mitgeteilt. Aus kinetischen Messungen wird die Übertragungskonstante des monomeren p-Bromstyrols berechnet. - Die Zusammensetzung von Copolymeren aus Styrol und p-Bromstyrol wird UV-spektroskopisch ermittelt. Ferner wird über einige Versuche zur ionischen Polymerisation von p-Bromstyrol berichtet.

    Description / Table of Contents: It is reported on the preparation of cristallizable polystyrenes by means of polymerisation of styrene with sodiumorganic compounds under low temperatures.X-ray diffraction shows the cristallinity of the polymers having melting points of more than 200°C. The cristallizable part of the total polymer increases with decreasing polymerization temprature. At constant temprature the intrinsic viscosities of the polymers decrease with the rise of catalyst concentration.
    Notes: Es wird über die Herstellung von kristallisierbaren Polystyrolen durch Polymerisation von Styrol mit natriumorganischen Verbindungen bei niedrigen Temperaturen berichtet. Anteile der Polymeren sind röntgenkristallin und haben Schmelzpunkte von über 200°C. Dieser kristallisierbare Anteil nimmt mit fallender Polymerisationstemperatur zu. Bei konstanter Polymerisationtemperatur fallen die Viskositätszahlen der Polymeren mit steigender Katalysatorkonzentration.
