Die theoretisch geforderte Proportionalität zwischen der Trübung einer Glykogenlösung einerseits und der Konzentration, dem Molekulargewicht und dem reziproken Wert der 4. Potenz der Wellenlänge des Lichtes andererseits konnte experimentell bestätigt werden.     Notes: Es wurde an Buna S festgestellt, daß ein von E. Wiechert aufgesetelltes Zeitgesetz das Abklingen der Spannung bei konstanter Verformung innerhalb der Fehlergrenze durch 2 Konstanten b und τ*für einen Bindungsmechanismus zufriedenstellend weitergibt. Nach dieser Darstellung gehören zu einem Bindungsmechanismus eine sehr große Zahl von Relaxationszeiten, die um einem Mittelwert schwanken. Bei der Untersuchung von Buna S über ein Temperaturgebiet von -40 bis + 40° wurden drei Gruppen von “verschmierten” Relaxationszeiten gefunden. Die E-Module der Gruppe I und II wuren bestimmt. Der E-Modul der Gruppe I steigt proportional der absoluten Temperature an, verhält sich also wie der eines idealen Kautschuks derjenige der Gruppe II ist temperaturunabhängig. Die Konstanten b sind temperaturunabhängig, während sich τ* in beiden Gruppen nach der Beziehung\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$$\frac{1}{{\tau ^ * }} = B^ * \cdot e^{ - \frac{A}{{RT}}}$$\end{document} mit der Temperatur ändert. Die Verteilungskurven der Relaxationszeiten der Gruppe I und II überlappen sich zum Teil.

    Notes: Die Molekulargewichte einer Reihe von Polystyrolen werden osmotisch in Toluol und in Methyl-Isopropylketon bestimmt. Von den gleichen Stoffen wird in M.-I.-Keton die Diffusionskonstante und die Sedimentationskonstante in der Geschwindigkeitsultrazentrifuge bestimmt, und aus diesen beiden Größen nach der Svedbergschen Gleichung das Molekulargewicht ausgerechnet. Die nach beiden Methoden bestimmten Molekulargewichte stimmen im Bereich von 100 000 bis zu 1 000 000 innerhalb der Fehlergrenzen überein.Die Zusammenhänge zwischen Sedimentationskonstante, Diffusionskonstante, Viskosität und osmotischem Druck werden im Hinblick darauf untersucht, die Extrapolation dieser Größen auf unendliche Verdünnung sicherer zu gestalten.Es wird versucht, aus des gemessenen Reibungsgrößen Aufschluß über die physikalische Gestalt der Makromoleküle zu erhalten. Für die die Abhängigkeit der Viskösitätszahl, der Diffusions- und der Sedimentationskonstante vom Molekulargewicht ergeben sich in Methyl-Isopropylketon als Lösungsmittel die Gesetzmäßigkeiten, welche W. Kuhn für „undurchspülte“ Knäuel voraussagt. In Toluol gelten die Gesetzmässigkeiten durchspülter Knäuel. Dem Versuch, aus diesen Daten den Knäuelungsgrad bzw. das Knäuelungsvolumen zu berechnen stehen noch große Schwierigkeiten entgegen. Ed wird darauf hingewiesen, daß zur Ermittelung der Gestalt der Moleküle noch andere makroskopische Eigenschaften herangezo gen werden müssen.

    Notes: Es wird gezeigt, daß zwischen starken und schwachen Inhibitoren (Reglern) kein grundsätzlicher sondern nur ein gradueller Unterschied besteht. Ihrer Wirkung nach lassen sich die Inhibitoren und damit auch die Regler in folgende 4 Klassen einteilen:I. Abbruchregler, welche eine zusätzliche Abbruchreaktion verursachen und daher die Reaktionsgeschwindigkeit und den Polymerisationsgrad im gleichen Verhältnis herabsetzen.II. Startregler, welche die Startgeschwindigkeit durch Beseitigung eines Teiles des „Primärproduktes“ hemmen.III. Start-Abbruchregler, welche die Wirkung I und II kombinieren.IV. Kompensationsregler, welche auf den Start beschleunigend wirken, zugleich aber den Kettenabbruch noch stärker beschleunigen, so daß im ganzen eine Verlangsamung der Bruttogeschwindigkeit erfolgt.Durch gleichzeitige Messung der Reaktionsgeschwindigkeit und des Polymerisationsgrades kann man für jeden Inhibitor leicht entscheiden, welcher Klasse er angehört, und seine charakteristischen Reaktionskonstanten bestimmen. Eine vorläufige Übersicht über eine Anzahl von Inhibitoren wird gegeben.Der starke Inhibitor Chinon gehört zur Klasse IV, da er nicht nur die Ketten abbricht, sondern auch den Primärakt stak beschleunigt.-Die Länge der Induktionsperiode ist unter Stickstoff der Chinonkonzentration ungefähr proportional. Sauerstoff verlängert die Induktionsperioden derart, daß diese Proportionalität verschwindet. Die Verlängerung beruht wahrscheinlich darauf, daß bei der Inhibierung entstandenes Hydrochinon wieder zum Chinon regeneriert wird. Die Zusammenhänge zwischen Induktionsperiode, reaktionskinetischer Kettenlänge und Polymerisationsgrad werden erörtert.

    Notes: Kasein (nach Hammarsten) wurde bei verschiedenen Temperaturen erhitzt. Die Löslichkeit der denaturierten Kaseine in verschiedenen Lösungsmitteln wurde qualitative bestimmt. Die Viskosität von Lösungen der hitzedenaturierten Kaseine wurde gemessen. Es wurde festgestellt, daß die Lösungen des denaturierten Kaseins zäher sind, als die Lösungen des nativen Kaseins. Die Konzentrationsabhängigkeit der Viskosität wurde bestimmt. Es wurde die Schlußfolgerung gezogen, daß bei der Hitzedenaturierung, ebenso wie bei der Desaminierung, die korpuskularen Kaseinmoleküle aufgelockert und in faserige Teilchen verwandelt werden.
