    Description: This paper offers a review of the theory published on crowdsourcing tools from de point of view of the concept's adoption by researchers. Crowdsourcing is a concept that includes many of the online collaboration activities performed by crowds in response to an open call. The paper offers a perspective on the incremental amount of publications already available as an indicator of the level of such adoption, given that the adoption process in general takes time because there has to be a critical mass of ideas conformed by experts. This paper includes a review on the theoretical concepts related to crowdsourcing and technological adoption. Systematic search has been done and the obtained information is included. Finally some conclusions are delivered.

    Description: In this paper, our research question that could analyze how efficiency in Swedish financial enterprises has changed since the banking crisis in 1993. We estimate the time-invariant and time-variant efficiencies of Swedish financial enterprises with four different estimators. These estimators are the Pooled Model (Aigner et al., 1977), the fixed effects model (Schmidt & Sickles, 1984), the random effects model (Battese & Coelli, 1995) and the TRUE fixed effects model (Greene, 2005) efficiency estimators. We predict cost function by employing panel stochastic frontier approach. These allow us to construct cost efficiency.
    Description: En este documento se analiza el modo en que ha cambiado la eficiencia en las entidades financieras suecas desde la crisis bancaria de 1993. Calculamos las eficiencias variables e invariables en el tiempo de las entidades financieras suecas desde 1996 a 2011, utilizando tres diferentes estimadores. Dichos estimadores de la eficiencia son: el Modelo Agregado -Pooled Model- (Aigner et al., 1977), el modelo de efectosfijos (Schmidt y Sickles, 1984) y elmodelo de efectos aleatorios (Battese y Coelli, 1992). Predecimos la función de costes utilizando el enfoque de frontera estocástica del panel. Esto nos permite construir la eficiencia de costes. Seguidamente, nuestra segunda cuestión de estudio asume qué bancos de accionistas muestran más eficacia que las bancas mutualistas (Shen y Chen, 2009). Calculamos las puntuaciones de la eficiencia de los bancos suecos desde 1996 a 2011. Esta medición se basa en los estimadores de la eficiencia del modelo de efectos fijos. Predecimos la función de costes utilizando el enfoque de frontera estocástica del panel. Esto nos permite construir la eficiencia de costes.

    Description: El proceso de venta del Banco de Valencia gestionado por el FROB duró 10 días. La venta se adjudicó a CaixaBank por un euro después de recibir 5.500 millones de fondos públicos. El informe de Oliver Wyman de 2012 motivó dicha reanudación. En él se estimaban unas necesidades de 1.846 millones en el escenario base, escenario que ha sido peor que el real. Este trabajo analiza el valor del BdV. Los resultados indican que el valor mínimo del BdV para CaixaBank es de más de 4.000 millones de euros. Sin embargo, no se ha podido determinar el porqué de esta diferencia. Diferencia reconocida en las cuentas de CaixaBank. Sin embargo, el precio pagado, un euro, después de un sacrificio muy importante de fondos públicos en una etapa de disminución del gasto y de prestaciones sociales es una cuestión que debería ser investigada.
    Description: The process of sale of BdV managed by the FROB lasted 10 days. The sale was awarded to CaixaBank for one euro after receiving 5,500 million euros of public funds. The Oliver Wyman report, published days before, drove this resumption. The needs that were estimated at Oliver Wyman report were 1,846 million euros in the baseline scenario, a scenario that has been worse than real. This paper analyzes the value of BdV. The results indicate that the minimum value of BdV for CaixaBank is over 4,000 million. However, this study could not determine why this difference. Difference recognized in the accounts of CaixaBank. However, the price paid, one euro, after a major sacrifice of public funds at a time of declining expenditures and social benefits is an issue that should be investigated.

    Description: Este trabajo examina la relación entre la presencia de la mujer en los equipos de alta dirección y el éxito de las empresas de alta tecnología en su salida a bolsa. Asimismo, analiza cómo indicadores específicos de capacidad de innovación pueden mediar dicha relación. La investigación empírica de una muestra de empresas biotecnológicas que salieron a bolsa en el mercado de valores estadounidense indica un efecto negativo y significativo de la proporción de mujeres en la dirección ejecutiva, aunque confirma la influencia positiva de los indicadores de innovación que además median y hacen no significativo el efecto de la diversidad de género.
    Description: This paper examines the relationship between the representation of women on top management teams and the success of high-technology firms going public. Also, it analyzes how specific indicators of innovation capability can mediate such a relationship. The empirical research of a sample of dedicated biotechnology firms that completed an initial public offering in the stock market of the United States shows a negative and significant effect of the proportion of female executive managers; however, it demonstrates that the indicators of innovation have a positive influence as well as mediate and cause no significant effect of gender diversity.

    Description: Este estudio analiza el vínculo entre las autoevaluaciones básicas (AEB), la importancia de la tarea y el compromiso afectivo (CA). El modelo fue contrastado en una muestra de empleados de pymes intensivas en conocimiento en España. Los resultados apoyan un modelo de mediación parcial en el que las AEB influyen en el CA de los empleados, tanto de manera directa como indirecta, al propiciar la percepción de importancia de la tarea.
    Description: This study analyzes relationships between core self-evaluations (CSE), task significance and affective commitment (AC). The model was tested on a sample of employees from knowledge-intensive SMEs in Spain. Results provide support for a partially mediated model whereby CSE influence employees’ AC, both directly as indirectly, by fostering perceptions of task significance.

    Description: Se ha desarrollado una escala para medir la fidelidad de los consumidores hacia las tiendas. Se analizó su validez de contenido mediante 2 muestras de jueces expertos y consumidores. La escala depurada se aplicó a una muestra de 221 consumidores. El análisis factorial exploratorio muestra que los ítems se estructuran en 3 dimensiones: «Manifestaciones de lealtad», «Fidelidad actitudinal» y «Propensión a ser leal». El estudio de validez referida a criterio mostró una relación significativa y positiva entre las puntuaciones en fidelidad y las dimensiones de personalidad. Concretamente, la dimensión de personalidad «Tienda excitante» es la que presenta un efecto más fuerte sobre la lealtad hacia la tienda (medida como fidelidad conductual, intenciones de volver a comprar y recomendaciones boca-oído). La dimensión de personalidad «Tienda competente» es la que presentó un mayor impacto sobre la fidelidad medida como «Fidelidad actitudinal».
    Description: A scale has been developed to measure consumer loyalty to stores. Its content validity was analysed by two samples of expert judges and consumers. The refined scale was applied to a sample of 221 consumers. The factorial analysis showed that items are structured in 3 domains: «Manifestations of loyalty», «Attitudinal loyalty» and «Propensity to be loyal». The validity criteria showed a significant and positive relationship between scores on loyalty and personality dimensions. Specifically, the dimension of personality «Exciting store» showed a stronger effect on store loyalty (measured as behavioural loyalty, word of mouth recommendations and repurchase intentions). The dimension of personality «Competent store» presented a greater impact on loyalty, measured as «Attitudinal loyalty».

    Description: Los recursos de naturaleza intangible se han convertido en los principales generadores de valor de manera sostenible en las empresas. En concreto, aquellos que permanecen ocultos en los balances debido a las dificultades que plantea su reconocimiento y medición (es decir, lo que se denomina capital intelectual). Si bien, el suministro por parte de las empresas de información voluntaria sobre estos recursos puede ayudar a reducir las posibles asimetrías de información y mejorar la transparencia informativa entre sus grupos de interés (stakeholders). En este sentido, los informes anuales son los principales medios de divulgación que tienen las empresas para suministrar información voluntaria. Sin embargo, en los últimos años, las memorias de sostenibilidad se han convertido en la principal vía de comunicación como mecanismo para legitimar las actuaciones de las empresas ante sus stakeholders. Así, nuestro objetivo es explorar y analizar el medio de comunicación que están empleando las empresas para suministrar información voluntaria sobre sus recursos intangibles ocultos. Los resultados obtenidos permiten concluir que se ha producido un cambio en la política de información empresarial y las memorias de sostenibilidad se han convertido en el principal soporte para suministrar información voluntaria a los stakeholders, además de ser un buen medio para suministrar información de los recursos intangibles.
    Description: Intangible assets have become the main sustainable value creation of companies. Specifically,those assets which remain hidden in the accounting statement due to the difficulties in identification and measuring (ie what is called intellectual capital). Voluntary information disclosed by companies on these assets can help to reduce symmetries of information and improve information transparency among stakeholders. In this sense, annual reports are the primary tool of information disclosure that companies have for provide voluntary information. In recent years, sustainability reports have become in the main means of communication as a way to legitimize the actions of companies to their stakeholders. Thus, our aim is to explore and analyze the means of communication used by companies to provide voluntary information about their hidden intangible assets. Results obtained indicate that there has been a change in corporate information policy and sustainability reports have become the mainstay to provide information voluntarily to stakeholders as well as being a good way to provide information of intangible resources

    Description: La globalización actual de los mercados como consecuencia del desarrollo de las tecnologías de la información y comunicación, en general, y de Internet, en particular, ha aumentado la importancia de la cultura del usuario en el comportamiento del consumidor online. Las páginas web son en la actualidad un potente vehículo de comunicación para aquellas empresas que operan en mercados internacionales. En este sentido, el diseño de las mismas afectará de manera importante a la forma en la que los usuarios pertenecientes a diferentes culturas procesan la información que reciben a través de las mismas. El objetivo del presente trabajo es examinar en qué medida el diseño web modera las diferencias culturales existentes entre usuarios a la hora de procesar la información web. Los resultados ponen de manifiesto que un buen diseño web medido en términos funcionales es capaz de reducir, e incluso anular, tales diferencias.
    Description: The actual markets globalization as a result ofinformation and communication technologies development in general and the Internet in particular, have increased the importance of the user culture in online consumer behavior. Web pages are now a powerful communications medium for companies operating in international markets. In this regard, the same design will significantly affect the way in which users from different cultures process information received through it. The aim of this paper is to examine how web design moderates cultural differences among users when processing web information. The results show that a good web design, measured in functional terms, is able to reduce or even eliminate such differences.

    Description: La financiación es un factor clave para el emprendimiento, especialmente en periodos de crisis, donde la restricción financiera dificulta más el crédito para nuevos proyectos empresariales de pequeñas y medianas empresas. Las Sociedades de Garantía Recíproca facilitan con su aval el acceso a préstamos a largo plazo. Este trabajo analiza la financiación bancaria del emprendimiento en España a través de las Sociedades de Garantía Recíproca del segmento de microempresas (menos de 10 trabajadores) en el periodo 2003-2012, para determinar si la crisis ha modificado sus necesidades de financiación. El análisis concluye que durante la crisis (2008-2012) ha cambiado la distribución de productos financieros, aumentando el peso de aquellos destinados a necesidades de tesorería, y los efectos son más intensos cuando la empresa tiene menor tamaño y más antigüedad.
    Description: Financing is key to entrepreneurship, especially in crisis period, when financial markets restriction hinders access to funding to small and medium enterprises. The Mutual Guarantee Institution facilitates funding to new businesses through guaranteed long term loans. This paper analyzes banking entrepreneurship financing to micro-enterprises (less than 10 employees) in Spain during the period 2003-2012, but only Mutual Guarantee Institution guaranteed enterprises, to determinate if financing products have changed. The analysis concludes that the financial products distribution has changed during the crisis (2008-2012), it has increased the weight of the products designed to liquidity, and the crisis effects are higher for smaller and older companies.

    Description: El trabajo analiza las características de los emprendimientos del sector no estatal cubano en el servicio de alojamiento turístico y sus efectos sobre las valoraciones de los clientes internacionales. Los datos provienen de una muestra aleatoria simple para arrendadores (90 emprendedores) y de un muestreo no probabilístico para 184 clientes internacionales. Para el análisis se utilizó una aproximación descriptiva, el análisis de conglomerados jerárquicos y el análisis de la varianza. Las conclusiones muestran que los arrendadores cubanos no estatales pueden considerarse emprendedores y constituyen una competencia para las instalaciones turísticas estatales. Su mayor intención emprendedora no viene condicionada por sus variables sociodemográficas o culturales, sino por las percepciones de sí mismo como emprendedor y su profesionalidad, que contribuye a la fidelización de los clientes. Ofrecemos información a la gestión empresarial del sector turístico cubano abordando una nueva perspectiva de gestión no estatal que constituye una novedad para la literatura
    Description: This work is to study how the Cuban entrepreneurship in the non-state sector service tourist accommodation and their effects on the valuations of international clients who use them. The data comes from a simple random sample for landlords (90 entrepreneurs) and a non-probability sampling for 184 international customers. A descriptive approach, hierarchical cluster analysis and analysis of variance was used to achieve our goals. The findings show that non-state landlords can be considered Cuban entrepreneurs and constitute a competition for tourist accommodation facilities state. However, most entrepreneurial intention is not conditioned by their sociodemographic and cultural variables, but rather by perceptions of their own as an entrepreneur and professionalism to provide the service, which also is appreciated by customers and contributes to their loyalty. We offer information to business management Cuban tourism sector and a new state management perspective not addressed, constituting a novelty in the research literature

    Description: Este trabajo estudia los efectos de la situación económica sobre el crédito comercial en las pequeñas y medianas empresas. Para lograr este objetivo, se analiza una muestra de pymes españolas durante los años 2004 a 2011, periodo que incluye una etapa de expansión y otra de recesión, utilizando la metodología de datos de panel. Los resultados muestran que el ciclo económico afecta de manera significativa al crédito comercial recibido y concedido, produciéndose un aumento en la etapa de bonanza económica y una contracción durante la crisis. Además, son las empresas más vulnerables financieramente las que durante la crisis, por un lado, tienen más dificultades para conseguir financiación vía crédito comercial, pero al mismo tiempo más incrementan su crédito a clientes. Por último, aquellas firmas con mayor capacidad de generar recursos conceden más crédito a sus clientes.
    Description: The objective of this work is to study the effects of the economic situation on trade credit received and granted, in small and medium-sized enterprises. To this end, using the panel data methodology, we analyse a sample of Spanish SMEs during the years 2004-2011: a period that includes two phases, one of expansion and another of recession. The results show that the economic cycle significantly affects trade credit received and granted, which both increase in the period of economic boom, and contract during a period of crisis. In addition, constrained firms receive less credit from suppliers during the crisis, while their accounts receivables increase. Finally, those firms with greater capacity to generate internal resources grant more credit to their customers.

    Description: El objetivo es analizar la orientación motivacional que impulsa al empresario a la internacionalización y sus preferencias informativas. Los empresarios, en función de su orientación, se clasifican en promoción y prevención. Los primeros desarrollan la internacionalización guiados por una motivación endógena, mientras que los segundos desarrollan la internacionalización empujados por las presiones competitivas. Además, la tendencia motivacional condiciona la atención que dedica a los estímulos informativos recibidos. El análisis empírico se realiza en el sector español de piedra natural, tanto a nivel nacional como regional. Los resultados reflejan que la orientación mayoritaria es la promoción y la atención del empresario difiere significativamente entre los distintos tipos de información considerada. Además se aprecian diferencias en la atención informativa de los empresarios con distinta orientación motivacional. A nivel regional, los empresarios de las distintas comunidades dirigen su atención a estímulos informativos diferentes, en unas ocasiones a mercados y en otras a barreras.
    Description: This study focuses on an analysis of motivation by entrepreneurs as regards international expansion, and how their motivation impacts their informational preference. Entrepreneurs may be grouped according to their motivational orientation: promotion and prevention. Promotion entrepreneurs approach internationalization spurred on by an inherent motivation, whereas Prevention entrepreneurs engage in internationalization driven by the requirements of the competitive environment. Motivational orientation thus shapes the interests of the entrepreneurs. This study is carried out based on a regional analysis of the Spanish natural stone industry. The findings indicate that exploiting international opportunities is more closely linked to the personal motivation of the entrepreneurs (focus promotion) than to the demands of the competitive environment (focus prevention). With regard to informational concerns, the entrepreneurs consulted showed a clear preference for information related to support programmes, followed by issues linked to knowledge of markets. Nevertheless, entrepreneurs show different orientations and display quite differing informational concerns, especially in these regions leading the internationalization of industry.

    Description: En el trabajo se analizan los niveles de implantación de sistemas de gestión de la calidad (SGC) en empresas del sur de España y norte de Marruecos, y las motivaciones, beneficios o barreras detectadas. Se ha tomado para ello una muestra de 322 empresas. A diferencia de otros estudios, principalmente orientados a conocer la percepción de las empresas ya certificadas, se ha pretendido además conocer la percepción de las empresas que no disponen de SGC frente al reto de su implantación. Los resultados de este trabajo ponen de relieve la existencia de diferencias entre ambas regiones, como en los niveles de certificación de la calidad, pero también las similitudes, como la consideración de los costes y la falta de tiempo como principales barreras para la implantación, o la mejor estandarización de los procedimientos de trabajo y la calidad de los productos y servicios como principales beneficios.
    Description: This paper analyze the levels of quality management systems (QMS) implementation in companies from southern Spain and northern Morocco, as well as motivations, benefits or barriers identified. It has been taken for a sample of 202 companies in southern Spain and 120 in northern Morocco. Unlike other studies mainly oriented to know the perception of companies with QMS certified, this one has also oriented to the perception of companies without QMS and the challenge of the implementation. The results of this study highlight the differences between the two regions, such as levels of QMS certification, but also the similarities, such as the consideration of the costs and the lack of time as major barriers to implementation, or a better processes standardization and quality of products and services as primary benefits.

    Description: A pesar de la importancia atribuida a la innovación y al emprendimiento como factores clave para promover el desarrollo socioeconómico de los países, existe un gran desconocimiento sobre qué instrumentos públicos de innovación son más efectivos para las empresas nuevas. Este estudio analiza las características de las empresas nuevas y cómo los principales instrumentos públicos de innovación responden a ellas. Dichas relaciones se analizan empíricamente en una muestra de 438 empresas nuevas europeas. Los resultados muestran que los préstamos para la financiación de proyectos de innovación, ayudas para la creación de redes, para la provisión de información y para la asistencia a ferias tienen un efecto positivo en la innovación de producto. Sin embargo, instrumentos públicos más tradicionales como son las subvenciones y las reducciones de impuestos no parecen ser efectivos. Este estudio tiene importantes implicaciones teóricas y prácticas para el diseño más eficaz y eficiente de políticas públicas de innovación para las empresas nuevas.
    Description: Despite the recognition of innovation and entrepreneurship as key factors to promote the socio-economic development of countries, little is known regarding the effectiveness and implications of public innovation policies on new ventures’ innovations. This study examines the characteristics of new ventures and how the main public instruments for innovation respond to them. Such relationships are tested empirically in a sample of 438 European new ventures. The results show that favorable loans for financing innovation projects, aids for building innovation networks, the provision of information and attending trade fairs are positively related to the development of product innovations. However, more traditional public instruments such as subsidies and tax reductions do not seem to be effective. This study has important theoretical and practical implications to launch more effective and efficient public policies to foster product innovations in new ventures.

    Description: Es innegable la importancia que el trabajo en equipo tiene como capacidad transversal en los nuevos planes de estudio universitarios. Por ello, es importante conocer qué es el aprendizaje cooperativo y su eficiencia sobre los equipos de estudiantes que lo utilizan. El objetivo de este artículo consiste en operacionalizar el concepto de aprendizaje cooperativo y estudiar sus consecuencias sobre el aprendizaje individual de los miembros de un equipo y el rendimiento global obtenido por el mismo. Se utilizan los modelos de ecuaciones estructurales sobre una muestra de 319 alumnos en una asignatura de marketing en una universidad pública española. Los resultados obtenidos señalan que el aprendizaje cooperativo mejora el aprendizaje de la asignatura en la que se aplica y el rendimiento del equipo, por lo que abogamos por que se favorezca su uso en las aulas y proponemos nuevas líneas de investigación para completar nuestro conocimiento sobre el aprendizaje cooperativo.
    Description: The importance of teamwork as a core capacity in the new university curricula is beyond all doubt. It is therefore crucial to know what cooperative learning is and how efficient it is for teams of students that use it. Thus, the aim of this paper is to operationalise the concept of cooperative learning and to study its consequences on both the individual learning of the members of a team and on the overall performance achieved by the team as a whole. Structural equation models were used on a sample of 319 students in a marketing subject at a Spanish public university. The results obtained show that students learn better in subjects in which cooperative learning is applied, and the team’s performance also improves. We therefore fully endorse fostering its use in the classroom. Lastly, several new lines of research are proposed to complete current knowledge about cooperative learning

    Description: Integrated reporting (IR) is one of the latest innovations regarding sustainability reporting and non-financial information in the world. Although some companies began IR practices in the 2000s (Eccles & Krzus, 2010), IR has only been recognized since 2010 as the best way to get a complete picture of the value of organizations, overcoming the limitations of traditional reports (Eccles & Krzus, 2010; Jensen & Berg, 2012; Abeysekera, 2013).Our research aims to analyze this innovative reporting trend. To do this, we first review some practices in the annual reports published by the pioneering companies in IR, then, we present the antecedents for the current IR framework. Finally we look into the process that the International Integrated Reporting Council has followed to develop the framework, pointing out some milestones for the widespread adoption of integrated reporting.Our findings suggest that reporting practices have been ahead both from theoretical developments and institutional efforts. However, private regulators continue to have a major influence on the theoretical definition of standards that are intended to guide IR and the development of accountability practices to stakeholders.

    Description: The aim of this paper is to evaluate the efficiency, using data envelopment analysis, in eurobond issues fixed rate in the period 2004-2012, assessing the impact of the financial crisis in that market. Following the development of a database consisting of 1,999 Eurobonds, the results show that in the years before the crisis starts the efficient issues volume was bigger, being the inefficient ones very close to the border. From 2007, we can see a drastic change in the market conditions, detecting a departure substantial and widespread production frontier.

    Description: Economists have traditionally been interest in analyzing economic growth enhancing factors. Entrepreneurship is one of factors considered by economists. However, in this analysis is also necessary to be considered how economic progress and distributive justice are affected. Usually economic growth and progress have been considered as synonymous, but following Holcombe (2007) it is possible to distinguish them since the former is related to the amount of product while economic progress is related to the quality of the product. This is important because some of the economic policy measures designed to promote economic growth can generate problems, for example, inequality. These problems could be solved, for example through a "compensation principle" to avoid that distributive justice and progress will be harmed. The aim of this article is to analyze these issues. We will begin considering the relationship between economic growth and progress in order to focus on the aspects of distributive justice and to design some economic policy measures to enhance economic growth and progress.

    Description: Micro.enterprises have certain attributes that distinguish them from large companies and from those that see problems when adopting principles and social responsibility policies. However, the principles of social responsibility can and should be integrated into any organization, including micro.enterprises. In this paper, we study how cooperation networks could be an appropriate incentive for the micro.enterprises to implement social responsibility policies, strengthening some advantages and mitigating some disadvantages that micro.enterprises may have when dealing with such policies, and enhancing, ultimately, the level of development of their relational and structural capital. In preparing the study theoretical model is proposed that analyses the components of these types of capital in the company, adapted to the micro.enterprise as well as studying the influences that social responsibility policies and membership of cooperation networks can have on these components.

Furthermore, it is mainly focused on the way innovation capability is built and developed in practice in two Innovative Technology.Based Companies (ITBC) in the Spanish broadcasting sector. Based on a multiple case study and interviews with managers who are responsible for New Product Development (NPD) projects, a collection of 17 practices is identified and classified in three dimensions: innovation strategy, innovative culture and innovation process structure.     Description: What factors influence consumers to choose a bank with which to contract a service in a situation of information asymmetry? In this situation the firm has more information than consumers, and this fact generates consumer uncertainty due to a possible firm opportunistic behaviour. To reduce it, consumers can use, on one hand, signals that the bank sends to the market, such as reputation, and on the other hand, they can seek for more informal information, such as positive word-of-mouth communication from relatives and friends, to generate or increase trust, and through this variable, to develop an intention o contract with a specific bank and not others. Relations among those variables were tested with a sample of 155 bank users when they have not still worked with a specific bank. Results indicate the importance both of the reputation signal and of the positive information received of acquaintances and relatives to trust, but with differences according to the level of perceived ex ante uncertainty moderate those relations.

    Description: The aim of this work focuses on analyzing the effect, both immediate and delayed, of Market Orientation (MO) on organizational outcomes. A longitudinal study has been done over a time horizon of 3 years in the Spanish financial sector. Regarding the methodology, we have developed a qualitative method to measure the degree of OM of the entities considered, through a content analysis. After obtaining an indicator of this analysis, we applied a quantitative methodology of structural equation modeling for testing hypotheses of the proposed model. From the results, we highlight, first, banks that implement a MO approach are likely to maintain that approach in subsequent periods. Secondly, immediate effects of MO on results were not found. And finally, MO does not record deferred effects on the considered indicators of profitability.

    Description: This article discusses theoretically why companies cooperate in carrying out their R&D, and doing so with several external agents. From a sample of original equipment manufacturers suppliers (OEMS) located in Catalonia, we checked if they incorporated products innovation, research, design, product development phases, and if they collaborated with external agents in doing their R&D, differentiated by property capital (domestic versus foreign) and company size. It was shown that large companies are those who performed R&D in greater proportion, however, and the smaller ones the least. A very small number of firms cooperate with the external agents considered, and they are all large companies.

    Description: Previous research on high-performance work systems (HPWSs) has primarily analyzed the effects of HPWSs on organizational performance from a management perspective. The current study distinguishes between management and employee perspectives of HPWS and examines how the two perspectives relate to engineers' intention to leave, using multilevel methodology. The results show significant differences between management and employee perspectives of HPWS and that the intended HPWS affects employees' intention to leave only through the employees' perceived HPWS.

    Description: Nowadays the reduction or elimination of waste has become a major environmental concern among industrialized countries and a priority for companies. In this work it is carried out a review of the postulates of the classical economic model, existing until a few dates, in connection with the variable environment and waste generated by firms. It is also examined the literature about the potential of the waste management and possible alternatives for obtaining of advantages or benefits derived from an efficient treatment of waste. This paper is completed with an empirical analysis of the waste management in companies of the Basque Autonomous Community. The motivations that drive firms to implement a waste management system and the advantages or benefits which derive from this fact are analyzed among other factors.

    Description: The objective was given to identify which salary scales exist within micro-enterprises (SME's) of the economical sector depending on tourism, through representative sample taking, as well as determining the sector to which the SME's belong that generate greater revenue or, on the contrary, those that are largely subsidized by the government. The tax requirements for Mexican SME's are multiple. There is therefore a necessity for specific research and articles on this subject that can provide investors with elements of evaluation. The article focuses on Benito Juarez County, Quintana Roo, Mexico, home to tourist destination Cancún. The article begins with an outline of the importance of the SME's and a basis is established according to which we can consider SME's as being Mexican together with the origin of tax obligations. Furthermore a mechanism is introduced which calculates the federal tax fee on incomes, according to the main sectors a stratified sample of SME's is being determined, in accordance with the sample an estimation of revenue is made and finally the conclusions are presented. The presented information has added value as it constitutes a manual with regard to the payment of federal income tax generated in Mexico.

    Description: The design of the new study plans adapted to the guidelines of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) attempt to bring business reality closer to the students, involving them into their learning process adopting an active model and participation and providing them a favourable framework in order to gain different skills. This requires designing more active teaching methodologies and setting up a capable assessment model to assess the skills obtained by students. The purpose of this paper is double, the first one, it is expected to identify the learning methods to achieve skills acquisition defined for the Production Management field in the EHEA framework, and the second one, explaining a capable skills assessment model. The empirical analysis developed has proved the teaching methods effectiveness used in the lecture rooms, but also show the importance of the skills assessment properly, what permit to gain the EHEA basic purpose.
